As manufacturer of Boron Citrate we hereby state the following facts about the drug:

BORON:

The trace mineral boron is a micronutrient with diverse and vitally important roles in metabolism. Boron is a chemical element with an atomic number 5 that belongs in the Period 2 and Group 13 in the periodic table. It is a low-abundant metalloid that is a poor electrical conductor at room temperature.

Since 1857, it has been known that environmental boron is taken up by plants in trace amounts, and in 1923, boron was recognized as an essential nutrient for plants. Plants contribute to dietary boron intake, with primary sources being fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Boron was originally obtained in 1895 from the reduction of boric anhydride, which remains a commercially important way to produce impure boron today.

The chemistry of boron is extremely complex. In human dietary supplements, boron is present in many different forms, including sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, boron amino acid chelate, boron ascorbate, boron aspartate, boron citrate, boron gluconate, boron glycinate, boron picolinate, and calcium fructoborate. As research into the chemistry of boron-containing compounds has increased, they have been shown to be potent antiosteoporotic, anti-inflammatory, and antineoplastic agents both in vitro and in vivo.

THERAPEUTIC USES AND EFFECTIVENESS:

  • Boron citrate and bone health

Boron citrate is a powerful tool which increases bone density or strength and prevent bone loss and associated diseases like osteopenia and osteoporosis.

  • Post-menopausal women

Osteoporosis is a bigger concern for post-menopausal women. Bone loss in women starts around the time of menopause. Because of the drop in estrogen level, this allows osteoclasts (cells that break down bone) to live longer. These cells resorb more bone, releasing more calcium into the blood that is eventually excreted through urine. But estrogen is essential for calcium absorption. It gets really difficult for post-menopausal women to maintain their calcium levels to prevent bone loss. But boron supplements can reduce daily urinary calcium excretion.

Boron influences the production and activity of steroid hormones, actions via which this trace mineral is involved in the prevention of calcium loss and bone demineralization. Boron supplementation has repeatedly been shown to noticeably reduce urinary excretion of both calcium and magnesium and to increase serum levels of estradiol and calcium absorption in post-menopausal women.

  • Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)

Some research shows that taking boron 10 mg by mouth daily around the time of menstrual bleeding reduces pain in young women with painful periods.

  • Prevention of Vitamin-D deficiency

Boron beneficially impacts vitamin-D utilization. Supplementation with boron stimulates bone growth in vitamin-D deficient animals and alleviates dysfunctions in mineral metabolism characteristic of vitamin-D deficiency.

  • It is thought that boron may play a role in other processes such as inflammation and regulating other electrolytes.

OTHER USES OF BORON:

  • Boron was used as a food preservative between 1870 and 1920, and during World Wars I and II.
  • It has applications in following fields
    1. Ceramics,
    2. High-hardness or abrasive compounds,
    3. Metal coatings,
    4. Detergents and bleaching agents,
    5. Insecticides,
    6. Semiconductors, magnets,
    7. Wood preservatives, and
